Bookmobile

The bookmobile provides library service in areas of Holmes County where people lack easy access to a fixed library facility. The bookmobile carries over 5,000 items including books and magazines for all ages. The staff will take requests for any material needed by a patron.

Materials are circulated for six weeks and can be renewed by calling the main library or a branch or bringing items to the bookmobile. While the bookmobile would like materials returned promptly, it does not charge fines. It does charge for lost items. The bookmobile comes every four weeks for public and school stops.

Homebound Delivery Services

The Holmes County District Public Library is committed to providing library materials and information to all residents of its service area. Delivery of library materials to residents who are unable to visit a branch, the bookmobile, or main library due to illness, disability, lack of transportation, or care-giving to a person needing continuous care is a part of that commitment.

Library staff members provide that delivery service on a 4-6 week schedule.

Special Needs Lending Library

The Special Needs Lending Library is a joint project of the Holmes County District Public Library and the Holmes County Board of MR/DD. The Lending Library is located at the Holmes County Training Center, 8001 TR 574, Holmesville, OH 44633. The Lending Library is open to any disabled person or their caregiver living or working in Holmes County.

HOURS OF OPERATION: MONDAY - FRIDAY 9-5PM.

PLEASE SIGN IN AT THE SCHOOL OFFICE BEFORE USING THE LIBRARY

All materials in the special needs lending library collection are accessible through the library's online catalog and available for loan.

"I have been enjoying the Holmes County Bookmobile for many years… I remember going to the bookmobile when I was in elementary school in Berlin, which was almost 40 years ago. My classmates and I always looked forward to bookmobile day. As a little girl, I remember the smell and sight of all those books on a vehicle - it was amazing to me! As an adult and a preschool teacher, I still find the bookmobile interesting and educational. The bookmobile visits my preschool once a month. The children are read a story by bookmobile staff and then they choose one book to take home. The children look forward to bookmobile day just like I did when I was a little girl! I truly am thankful for the bookmobile and the many resources it has to offer. I use it for personal enjoyment and educational purposes.”
